Quintessential English Charm For This Surrey Mansion

Gorse Hill is set in the beautiful Surrey Countryside, with its rolling hills and stunning areas of outstanding natural beauty, it is the ideal setting for this luxury boutique hotel. The home itself is the epitome of quintessential English charm, with its long driveway and landscaped Gardens; there is no part of the building which doesn’t invite you into its captivating and luxurious interior.

The master plan for Gorse Hill Hotel was to bring the property back to its former glory and included a new conference centre building, specialist renovation and refurbishment of the reception, bar, restaurants, customer lounge, gym and corridors.

After successfully completing the renovation of the beautiful former mansion house, we have now been instructed to build a new conference center, which is a 10,000 square feet new build construction. The design is set to create a high tech, future proof destination for businesses to utilise the quality facilities, meeting rooms and multipurpose function rooms.

Gorse Hill was built in 1912 as a grand mansion and home for the successful insurance underwriter John Ingram, designed by Edward Prioleau Warren – renowned for designing Churches and parts of Oxford college, it was considered to be one of the most opulent houses of the area at this time. From its beginnings as a stunning home to its conversion to a training center and then finally a hotel in 2005, Gorse Hill is a project which is very rewarding to work on. More than £4 million is budgeted for the development, a long way from the humble values of John Ingram’s forced sale in 1912, due to his unlucky insurance of White Star Line’s iconic vessel, Titanic.

Future Plans for Gorse Hill

The current new-build conference centre will be complimented by a casual lounge, a modern meet and greet bar and a full-service kitchen. The internal contemporary spaces will be complimented by an exterior that reflects the period opulence of the Mansion House and will sit perfectly in the newly designed landscaped gardens.

As a national building contractor, it is a pleasure to work on a large-scale refurbishment of a local hotel, being entrusted with the multiple developmental stages to create a beautiful and popular venue just outside London, is testament to the high-end finishing and quality of workmanship Paton put into our development projects.

We hope the Gorse Hill Development Project encourages many new people to visit this beautiful hotel. Steeped in English heritage with modern nuances, this perfect pairing is set to be a continuing theme among many period development projects across the Paton group.
